THEOPTIE

(Θεοπτία)

A Kandy

« Tout était blanc
Par la nuit éblouissante… »

    Fujiwara no Kintô

La douce blancheur du lit, la chambre lumineuse
Et le silence profond qui tendrement étreint
Ce corps de primevères que Léonard a peint
En souvenir splendide d’une nuit vertigineuse !

ENGLISH (My translation into English) :

THEOPTY

(Θεοπτία)

To Kandy

“Everything was white
On the brilliant night…”

    Fujiwara no Kintô

Sweet whiteness of the bed, the brilliant room

And the profound silence which tenderly embraces

This body of primroses which Leonard painted

In magnificent memory of a vertiginous night!

Notes :

Theopty :  Greek word meaning “Divine vision”.

Fujiwara no Kintô (966-1041) : also known as Shijō-dainagon, was a poet admired by his contemporaries and a court bureaucrat of the Heian period. His father was the regent Fujiwara no Yoritada and his son Fujiwara no Sadayori. An exemplary calligrapher and poet, he is given mention in works by Murasaki Shikibu, Sei Shōnagon and a number of other major chronicles and texts.

Over the course of his life, Kintō published a great many poems, as well as many poetry anthologies including the Shūi Wakashū. He also established the grouping of “Thirty-Six Poetic Geniuses” or “Thirty-six Poetry Immortals”, the "Anthology of Poems by the Thirty-Six Poets" (Sanjūrokkasen), frequently seen in Ukiyo-e art; he first assembled in 1009-1011 which Fujiwara no Teika would later recommend to the study to aspiring poets.

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519): Leonardo was renowned in his lifetime as a painter, sculptor, architect, musician, engineer, and cartographer, but the degree of awareness of his anatomical work among his contemporaries is a mystery. Almost everything that we know today about his researches is contained in 200 sheets of drawings and notes housed in the Royal Library at Windsor Castle.

ITALIEN (Ma traduction en italien) :

TEOPTIA

(Θεοπτία)

A Kandy

“Tutto era bianco
Nella notte brillante. »

    Fujiwara no Kintô

La dolcissima bianchezza del letto, la stanza brillante

E il silenzio profondo che tenermente abbraccia

Questo corpo di primavere che Leonard dipinse

In memoria memoria di una notte vertiginosa!
